Kenyans have impressed in a great way in the 9th day of the world athletic championship in Oregon USA. They have won two medals. Kenyan national anthem will be heard across the world after Emmanuel Korir won a gold medal in 800M men. Emmanuel ran a season best of 1:43:71 to ensure team Kenya win a second gold medal from the one Faith Kipyegon won for the country.

Korir is now both an Olympic and World champion after winning the same gold in Tokyo Olympics last year. Algeria's Djamel Sedjati finished second, while Canada's Marco Arop, after leading for most of the race, had to settle for bronze. From this gold win, Korir will take home $70,000 which is equivalent to ksh 8.2 millions. This is a good award and congratulations to him.The other Kenyan in the race were Emmanuel Wanyonyi who finished fourth and Wycliffe Kinyamal who finished 8th.

The second medal has been won by Beatrice Chebet. She has delivered an excellent Silver medal in the women's 5,000m in Eugene. She ran a personal best of 14:46:75 to win this prestigious silverware. It is the eighth medal for team Kenya. Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia won gold in 14:46.29 while Dawit Seyaum of Ethiopia ran in 14:47.36 to win the Bronze medal. Ethiopia is currently in second place with 10 total medals while Kenya is behind them at third with 8 medals. USA still lead with 28 total medals.

From this silver win, Chebet will take home $35,000 which is equivalent to ksh 4.1 millions. Congratulations to her. The other Kenyan in the race were Margaret Kipkemboi Chelimo who finished fourth and Gloria Kite who finished 10th.
